XS/S and S/M sit close to the natural waist on slimmer frames, while 2XL/3XL through 6XL/7XL extend the strap length for fuller hips and waists. The buckle adjusts within each labeled size but will not bridge two size categories, so check the size chart against your waist measurement before ordering, since a belt that is one label too small will not close and one too large will sit loose even at the last hole.
